Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi is an award-winning actress, producer, and the breakout star of ABC’s Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated series black-ish. She is best known as executive producer and star of Freeform’s black-ish spin-off series, grown-ish, which sunsetted last year after six seasons.
Next up, Shahidi will star in Catherine Hardwicke’s drama Street Smart. She is also set to appear in the action-thriller Ballerina Overdrive and in the feature film Bloom, from director and writer Cole Swanson; and she can currently be seen in Roku’s hit series, The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Summer. In 2019, alongside her business partner and mother, Keri Shahidi, she signed a producing deal with ABC under the moniker 7th Sun Productions. The company’s newest podcast venture, The Optimist Project, launched in late 2024.
Shahidi is a champion for inclusive media programming and an advocate for equity. She has received numerous accolades for her work, such as TIME’s 30 Most Influential Teens, Forbes 30 Under 30, British Vogue Forces for Change, Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year, and Essence Magazine’s Black Women in Hollywood.
