Summer Durant
Poet and Performing Artist; JD Candidate, Howard University School of Law
Summer Durant is a 2025 graduate of Howard University School of Law (HUSL), where she served her community in a variety of leadership roles including as the Executive Solicitations & Submissions Editor for the Howard Law Journal. She was a recipient of the 2023 Wiley A. Branton Award and a student attorney and advocate in many other capacities, ultimately completing her time at HUSL as the salutatorian of her class. Before HUSL, Durant was also a scholar and community leader at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she received her Master of Science in Law, and at Georgetown University, where she received her BA.
Alongside her work and scholarship, Durant is also a nationally ranked performance poet and artist, periodically serving as a featured speaker and organizer at conferences and poetry competitions nationwide, with the goal of shedding light on the difficult questions whose answers tend to escape us.
