Technologist and Photographer
Florian Koenigsberger (b. 1992, New York) is a still photographer and storyteller. His interest in photography is rooted in a fascination with the photograph as a medium for dignity, self-determination, and aesthetic meditation.
His personal practice is increasingly interested in exploring the nuances of multiracial identities. A child of Jamaican and German immigrants raised in New York City, the question of which places and cultures to call home has always been central. As the multiracial population of the U.S. continues to grow and the range of reported experiences expands, Koenigsberger looks to explore the layers of identity and circumstance that bind—and divide—this group.
Professionally, he works as a product marketer focused on improving camera technology’s abilities to beautifully and accurately capture dark skin, directly combatting the medium’s historical bias against subjects with dark skin. His work builds on extensive scholarship, personal accounts, and conversations in mass media.
Today, he lives and works in New York City.
